GRAVE DESECRATOR - Interview 2012

1.       Infernal hails Necrogoat, how It`s going?

Greetings from hellish Brazil, my friend! I´ve just arrived from a very long and exhaustive European tour (Desecrating Europe Tour 2012), and I´m a bit tired yet. But tomorrow I´ll need to return to my shitty job, so..The fucking life goes on..Meanwhile, I´m listening to a lot of stuffs that I got in this tour, cd´s, demos, tapes etc. Metal to be worshipped!!

2.       I know that you are back from a nearly five weekly tour   around Europe, tell me a brief summary of the tour.

Ah man, that was a great experience of life and death! We played 30 gigs in 45 days. The last one in Padova was cancelled by the faggot who organized it, so…We played in a lot of countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria etc, etc..Some cool bands were introduced to us, as well as we got bad surprises, when we faced some shit bands like opening acts for us. Lots of drinks, marijuana, lust and chaos all around! We´ll return there for a new tour after the release of our 3rd cd, late this year or early 2013 by Pulverised recs.

3.       I saw that in Norway you guys meet Fenriz?

Oh yeah. As far as I know, he likes our band a lot, and we used to send e-mails each other. He´s cool guy, and I respect him a lot. He was too drunk this night! Oh fuck yeah!

4.       In which country you enjoyed the most and have the best feedback from the audience?

I think in Germany we have a lot of good audience and GD has a lot of friends there too. The band seems to be well known in the underground over there! We shared the stages there with killer bands like Augrimmer, Venenum, Warhammer and others. Also, we liked a lot of gigs in Romania, Norway ( fuck, the venue got really over chaos that night!!), Spain… Slovenia was cool, but we played too late, and I got really drunk, you know, haha…But all countries are welcomed to be touched by our devilish spells of miscreation…

5.       If i figured it out right, this was the tour in support of two releases the first is the full lenght that you released in 2010 via Hellsheadbangers called ˝INSULT˝ and the other release is ˝DEATHSPELLS RISING ˝a compilation of demo material, tell me more about this two releases?

Well, actually “Insult” is a release from Ketzer rec. (Ger) but licensed in Americas by Hell´s Headbangers. “Deathspells..” was just a release by the Italian label Despise the Sun, which contains some of our old stuffs already rare and never re-released, like our unique demo from 2001, first 7ep, some rehearsals etc..purest shitload I mean, haha. It has a killer cover made by Chris Moyen!!! We went to Europe for the first time in 2010, and “Insult” had been just released. We played at Live Evil fest in Uk that time, by the way. That was a short 10 dates tour.

6.       I saw that you are signed now with Pulverised Records, why you split with Hellsheadbangers?

No, many people thinks that we´re signed to HHR, but actually as I said, we were a band from Ketzer rec. and they only released “Insult” in USA and Americas. And I like very much of the work that HHr made with us. We got signed to Pulverised, but maybe we´ll be released in USA by the same HHR and some other countries by some other different labels as well.

7.       I must say that INSULT sounds like a perfect misture between early Sepultura Slayer and Sarcofago, these bands have influenced you in some way?

Well, we bring the old essence of some brazilian standards mixed with traditional evilness from old Slayer, Sodom etc. A blend that materialize  the final result of GD. Of course that these bands rules ( at least in the past) and no doubt that they have their shadows over our souls. That´s very important for us to overcome the gay bands in Brazil with our titanic Black/Death mass of destruction and outrage! We warn that the spirit is alive here with us and a bunch of other bands! Angra, new Sepultura, brazilian pacific Thrash garbage and similars, can and must fuck off!

8.       Which are currently your 5 more played albums?

Nowadays?? Fuck, now I´m listening to the stuffs I got in european tour, like Beherit´s Engram (finally I got the original cd), Nifelheim´s first album, Blood Tsunami new cd promo, Turbonegro´s Retox, Warhammer´s No Best So Fierce, Nunslaughter´s Demoslaughter as well as for a cd from a band called Bleeding Fist, do you know them? Hehe..So, these and other stuffs shall be the ones I´ll keep listening to for some days or weeks…

9.       I know that you are a big fan of horror movies,  there is some brazilian movie that you want raccomend ?

Yes, try to the first stuffs of Mr. Coffin Joe. “At Midnight I´ll take Your Soul”! Get it, it´s a classic!!!

10.   Plans for the future?

We have no future! Our plan is to die after fucking more and release some more darkness to this miserable plan! Some split 7ep´s to come out soon (with Augrimmer, Mystifier and Martyrvore), a live album from Romania gig in vinyl and so on! Third full-lengh will start to be worked soon, and Harris Johns will work with us here in Brazil!!

11.   Ok Blasphemic brother  your last words ?

Thank you Hellscream and keep spreading darkness all around!!! We meet you all again soon in Slovenia!

All this information gets underlined by an elaborate usage of band photos, concert flyers and other visual content from the years 1991 to 1993 and the noble and balanced layout by Xaay (NILE, BEHEMOTH).

SHINING To Release Covers EP

SHINING will release an EP of cover songs with a choice of material that will come as a surprise to many of the band's fans. The four-track EP, titled "Lots of Girls Gonna Get Hurt", includes tracks from KATATONIA, KENT, IMPERIET and POETS OF THE FALL, and is due for release on Spinefarm Records on May 16.

Cover art is by Pauline Greefhorst.

Commenting on the decision to release an EP of covers, as well as on the choice of material, SHINING's frontman and founder Niklas Kvarforth had this to say: "In no way should this EP be seen as a new direction for SHINING, and it is absolutely no indication of what you can expect from our upcoming eighth album. Like most musicians neither myself, nor the rest of the band, restrict ourselves to listening to only one genre of music. We all have eclectic tastes, and finding ourselves with some spare time in the studio, we recorded a total of six covers, and decided to release four of them. This EP simply represents some of the artists and music that we like. We know that those fans of SHINING who limit themselves to a narrow musical spectrum will hate the album, but that really is of no concern to us."

SHINING's as-yet-untitled eighth full-length album will be released in the fall.

WATAIN to release first ever DVD

The swedish black metal gods Watain are proud to announce that on the 7th of May 2012, the first Watain film will be released. Its title will be Opus Diaboli. Opus Diaboli is the commemoration of Watain's 13 year Anniversary. A visual and audial documentation of the ceremonial concert performance in Stockholm and the long years of physical, intellectual and spiritual work leading up to it.
90 minutes of wildhearted Satanic Metal!

Two versions will be made available; one regular DVD that apart from the DVD will also contain two bonus CDs including the audio recording of the full 13 Year Anniversary concert in Stockholm.
The second version of Opus Diaboli will be a limited vinyl box including the DVD, 2 audio CDs with the live recording, 2 LPs with the live recording, and last but definitely not least a historical photobook containing old flyers and never seen photos, most of them taken off stage.

This will be the first release of Watain's own label, His Master's Noise. Both versions are now available for pre-order through the official merch store WOLF WEAR.

The band comments;
˝This movie was first meant to be the recording of our 13 Year Anniversary concert, but as everything with Watain it took on a life on it`s own and became one of our most ambitious projects to date. It is a very personal and emotional piece of work and certainly not for the faint at heart. But for those who wish to explore the glimmering abyss of Watain further, this will be a rewarding release for sure.

Apart from the movie, we are also very proud of the photobook that comes with the box set. It was an overwhelming experience going through the massive archives in search of the photos that best summed up the storm of passionate turmoil that has been our journey,
especially since we wanted to stay away from live photos and focus more on moments off stage. The result was however very satisfying, a rare and spicy mixture of photos of which most have never been published before.

We can also announce that this will be the first release on our own label ˝His Master`s Noise˝, a name originating from Bathory's mastermind Quorthon who had it in mind for his own label back in the early 1980s. Just like with our own merch store wolfwear.net, this time we have chosen to stand by our own and do things our way, without corporate hands between us and our supporters.˝

DEATH WOLF Starts Recording Second Album

DEATH WOLF (formerly DEVILS WHOREHOUSE), the "horror-death rock" side-project of MARDUK guitarist Morgan Håkansson, has entered Endarker Studio in Östergötland, Sweden to begin recording its as-yet-untitled second album for a late summer release via Blooddawn Productions/Century Media.

AUTOPSY To Unleash 'Born Undead' DVD

AUTOPSY will release a new DVD, "Born Undead", on May 28 in Europe and June 5 in the U.S. via Peaceville Records.

The "Born Undead" DVD charters AUTOPSY's birth, death and rebirth with an extensive documentary conducted with the bandmembers themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years. The film also documents the band's long-awaited return to the studio and stage, and includes rehearsal footage of both new tracks and old classics for their live comeback assault. The trio of 2010 reunion shows are all featured here, with all the best classic tracks from Maryland Deathfest, Party.San Open Air festival and Hole In The Sky in Norway, where the trio of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler and Danny Coralles was joined by Dan Lilker (NUCLEAR ASSAULT, BRUTAL TRUTH) on bass.

With hours of footage as well as extras, including the band's promotional video for the song "All Tomorrow's Funerals", "My Corpse Shall Rise" and more, "Born Undead" is the ultimate set for all AUTOPSY and metal maniacs alike. The DVD also contains artwork from Kent Mattieu, who had collaborated with the band on their early classic (and often controversial) album covers.

GRAND MAGUS: 'The Hunt' Cover Artwork Unveiled

Swedish heavy metallers GRAND MAGUS will unleash their new album, "The Hunt", in Europe on May 25 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The CD's cover artwork was created by Arik Roper (CATHEDRAL, HIGH ON FIRE, SLEEP), who also handled the art on GRAND MAGUS' "Iron Will" LP.

Commented GRAND MAGUS frontman Janne "J.B." Christoffersson: "Arik Roper is a super-talented artist and we've had the pleasure of working with him before when he did the cover art for our album 'Iron Will'. This time around with the overall feel and lyrical themes of our new album 'The Hunt', Arik was the perfect choice once again. We basicallly just gave him the title and he created one of the most haunting and suggestive images ever seen. He totally nailed what the album is all about. To say we are pleased is a gigantic understatement! This piece of art will stand the test of time and become classic."

ACEPHALIX To Release 'Deathless Master' In April

San Francisco's malevolent death metal overlords ACEPHALIX are preparing to release their second official full-length album via Southern Lord this April, delivering with it some of the most uncompromised, old-school death metal brutality of the year.

While their first few releases bore a more metal-edged crustpunk sound, the ACEPHALIX attack has undeniably shown more death metal influence with each passing release. After the cult crust/metal scene success of their "Aporia" LP, released via Prank Records in 2010, the band dropped two brutal demos — 2010's "Interminable Night" and 2011's "Flesh Torn In Twilight", Southern Lord brought the two demos together and released a one-time CD pressing of 2000 copies which sold out rapidly. Over the past two years ACEPHALIX have toured relentlessly, doing the Western U.S. with Danish death metal horde UNDERGANG and also taking part in the "Power Of The Riff" 2011 summer tour alongside BLACK BREATH, WINTER, NOOTHGRUSH, EYEHATEGOD, PENTAGRAM and more.

Now officially a part of the Southern Lord roster and a major priority for the label, ACEPHALIX are preparing to assault the planet with their second official full-length, bringing out their most pulverizing, low-end deathcrushing riffage and cavernous vocal malevolence yet with "Deathless Master". With an incredibly evil, thundering delivery, the eight hymns harnessed on "Deathless Master" were recorded with VÖETSEK's Jef Leppard, who also recorded "Interminable Night". While their punk/crust heritage is still detectable in their songwriting, but the primal delivery of the riffs and guttural, horrifying tone of the vocals on "Deathless Master" sees the band make the final transition from into a full-fledged, disgustingly behemoth death metal unit.

"Deathless Master" will hit North America April 24 on CD and sometime in June on vinyl. Expect massive touring from ACEPHALIX beginning in the months just ahead and all through the year.

"Deathless Master" track listing:

01. Bastard Self
02. Deathless Master
03. Tomb Of Our Fathers
04. On Wings...
05. Raw Life
06. Blood Of Desire
07. In Arms Of Nothing
08. The Hunger

HELL MILITIA just signed a deal with Season of mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce that French black metallers HELL MILITIA just joined the ranks of the Underground Activists division.
"Hell Militia are really enthusiastic about that new signing with SOM. We join many of our comrades and have known some of the SOM guys for quite a long time so it had to happen someday. There has been a lot of work on the new album, and it was composed in a very special way, far from everything, and even now we are still hard at work on the mix. We can't wait to have the final result in our fucking hands, for sure the sickest opus of Hell Militia. A small animal suffocated by mean children. Hallelujah Motherfuckers!"

The band's third full-length, which title is yet to be unveiled, should hit the stores later this year.

INQUISITION just inked a deal with Season of Mist

Black metal powerhouse INQUISITION just inked a deal with Season of Mist! The Americans' sixth album will be released on the Underground Activists division.

Frontman Dagon issued the following statement: "For many years INQUISITION has loyally walked upon the path of Black Metal deeply devoted to its spirituality and magic while growing and maturing our craft, yet always preserving the essence that ignited us since our beginning, always keeping us rooted in the elements that make us what we are now and who we were in the past. Time is relativity and this relativity is affected by choice and selection during our time of existence as INQUISITION. Therefore our careful choice of a new label as a means to take us further into our journey, and your journey, extending this path we walk upon into deeper dimensions and allowing us to heighten our potential will be placed in the hands of Season of Mist. At this time we are heavily devoted to the composition and arrangement of our next opus. We know what we want, we know what you expect and we look forward to 2012 being the year of creation and production of this upcoming ritual. With pride we announce this new relationship and with pride we will continue to deliver INQUISITION at its finest... Hail the cult.

PROCLAMATION: Interview 2012

PROCLAMATION Is one of the best black metal bands comming out of Spain, on the occasiopn of their imminent  upcoming release NETHER TOMBS OF ABADDON I done this interview with Bestial Offensor.

-Did you claim yourself as a bestial black metal act?

We are influenced by the Black Metal of bands like Bathory, Sodom, Blasphemy, Mystifier, Beherit, Impiety, Samael, Satanic Evil, Profanatica... before all the scandinavian trend in the 90’s.

We also take influences from real old Death Metal like Possessed, Hellhammer, Sarcófago, Necrovore, Holocausto, Sepultura, Pentagram, Abhorer, Obscurity...
So we play traditional Black Metal or real old school Death Metal.
What do you think of the bestial black metal scene, which are the artist that you like the most?
Most of nowadays bands that are labeled with that “Bestial Black Metal” tag are nothing but average modern Death Metal like Incantation’s second album with Black Metal posing pictures and occultist topics.
In the other side you have the gas-masked goat “War Metal” joke...
We like the old school analog productions, the obscure distortion of the tape and primitive riffs of pure evil.
Not technical and triggered drumming but bestial percussion with raw sound.
If you mean Blasphemy/Sarcófago/Beherit influenced bands when you say “Bestial Black Metal”, I recommend you Black Feast and Mockery. They are not well known but both really get that sound we are looking for. Total underground filth from the abysmal graves.

-How does it feel to work with a label like Nuclear War Now?
Best label around for us.

-Which are the main differences between Execration Of Cruel Bestiality and Nether Tombs Of Abaddon?
Not too  much. We are not going to change like Tiamat or Samael did, you know. So this new album is very similar to Execration... In other hand, since all our releases are self-produced, we always improve our sound in each album.

Who Is The main Artist behind your albums covers, and which is the meaning behind the album art?
All the layout artwork in our albums has been made for me.
The race of Azazel, the thousand scapegoats of Lilith, the Se'irim... The cadaveric skull faces reflect the fallen from grace and the birth of death. The horns and hair represent the animal instincts beyond human reason: sleeping bloodlust and hungry bestiality.

What satanism  means to you?
Like some authors in British Romanticism and French decadentism were identificated with the character of Satan in Paradise Lost, Satanism is attracted by the antagonists of the judeo-christian myths, like Lilith, Cain and his legacy, Nimrod, the Watchers from the Book of Enoch... The morals and beliefs of Satanism are closer to the religions of the ancient Egypt, Babylon, Phoenicia, Canaan, Ammon, Akkad... represented as diabolic cults in the old testament, and also closer to the Greco-Roman mysteries than the weak and false pledges of the Evangely. Satanism has risen in Occident as an answer to Christianity, and inversion of the monotheistic dogmas and mysticism.

URFAUST: to release a 7˝ split and Best Of

Urfaust are working on a new track for their upcoming split with King Dude (US), in other news The Re-release of the "Rituale..." album on vinyl / cd and the Compilation album "Ritual Music for the true Clochard" on vinyl / cd is planned to be  unleash soon via Ván Records.

NECROWRETCH Signs With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS

Century Media Records has announced the signing of France's NECROWRETCH.

Combining influences from the early works of bands such as MERCILESS, MORGOTH, GROTESQUE and tons of others unforgettable acts with their own vision, NECROWRETCH is currently one of the most promising young death metal bands.

NECROWRETCH's guitarist/vocalist Vlad comments: "We are, of course, very happy and proud to join the Century Media Records family in which we already feel really comfortable! We are convinced that this collaboration is for us a unique chance to work in the best conditions with experienced and passionate people. We are now eagerly waiting to start working on our first unholy album. Finally, I would like to thank Jens Prüter, Philipp Schulte and Jerry Maréchal for their confidence and dedication!"

Jens Prüter, head Of A&R at Century Media Europe, comments: "It already surprised the metal scene that we signed the, back then, rather unknown band SONNE ADAM from Israel. And I can just repeat myself: it's about the unique quality and we have a history signing death metal newcomers. Bands like GRAVE, MORGOTH and ASPHYX had just a couple of demos out before we signed them over 20 years ago. Let's continue with the next generation and welcome NECROWRETCH! The 'Putrefactive Infestation' 12" dominated my turntable for some months and I'm sure the upcoming album will be as sick and heavy! Bands like MASSACRA, AGRESSOR or MERCYLESS can be proud that NECROWRETCH is carrying on the torch of French death metal."

Jerry Maréchal, A&R at Century Media Europe, comments: "It has been four years now that I follow the progression of the band and all I can say is that it has been truly impressive! From the first demo to the 'Putrefactive Infestation' 12", the two main characters behind the band managed to establish NECROWRETCH as a solid newcomer in the death metal field by transcending their excellent early '90s underground influences while remaining faithful to what is genuine death metal. Hail to them!"

NECROWRETCH will start writing its first album after the release of the band's first seven-inch EP on Detest Records. This EP will be released March 10 during the band's first German live appearance at the ASPHYX new album release party at the Turock club in Essen, followed by an appearance at the Hell's Pleasure Festival on July 20-21 in Pößneck, East Germany.

GHOST Working On 'Lavished And Divine' New Album

David E. Gehlke of Blistering.com recently conducted an interview with one of the "Nameless Ghouls" from the mysterious Swedish buzz band GHOST. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Blistering.com: The whole aspect of the band being anonymous is crucial to what GHOST is about. Does it wear you out having to go to all of these lengths to conceal your identity?

The Nameless Ghoul: Yes and no. On a day-to-day basis when we are home, it can be slightly irritating at times when you have to justify what you are doing. Some of us in the band have experienced people telling us we have to quit our jobs. It's hard to justify quitting your job because you're pursuing a musical career, but nobody knows what band you're in [laughs]. So it gives you an enormous loser tag right in your forehead and you have to say that with the loser tag, and you just fight it [laughs]. That's one of the weird perks to being in this band. There's a lot of people in your immediate surrounding that you don't share a lot of information with. Being away for months at a time, obviously that's weird when people don't' know what you're doing. On the positive side, you can be released of a lot the negative aspect of being semi-famous or recognized. Some things we are missing out on, but I'm glad to not be a part of that. I prefer being my own individual and doing things with my friends. Fortunately, I'm doing this with a lot of my friends and whenever we choose to step outside of the bubble, we can easily do so. We don't need to be entertainers or members of the band; nobody expects us to jump onstage the bar. Nobody knows…we could pass as roadies and it would be perfect.

Blistering.com: Living in the age of the Internet, it's really easy to get information on just about anyone. Are you worried about information being leaked on you guys?

The Nameless Ghoul: As long as we don't state publicly who we might be, we really don't see it as a huge problem. We're not on a worldwide "above-the-radar" basis. We're still virtually unknown as a band, much different than in a Paris Hilton sort of way [laughs]. As long as we don't have that as an attraction, there's really not much [reason] in this group to unfold our true identities. Like a public statement would have to rely on us coming out, and as long as we don't do that, we can keep on… not even denying, but not even commenting on rumors or what people say.

Blistering.com: What's the status on the follow-up to [GHOST's debut album] "Opus Eponymous"?

The Nameless Ghoul: Most of the material has been written already. Throughout the production and writing, we've been using the word "divine" a lot. Whereas with the first album, the sound was slightly "wooden," we want the new album to be stone and golden in terms of being lavished and divine. So we are trying to paint an even more solemn religion and there's all sorts of dramatic steps forward. The first album is about the arrival of the anti-Christ, about a coming darkness. The new album will about a current darkness, the presence of the devil, how it relates to divinity and how it's futile you grasp whatever is divine.

Blistering.com: Considering how successful "Opus Eponymous" was, are you prepared for what should be some extremely high expectations for this album?

The Nameless Ghoul: I can't honestly say, but I think our sort of relaxed distance from what we're doing professionally might show that we're pretty well fit for survival. You never know. We are humans as well and we're trying to make a record that's supposed to be better than something a lot of people like, of course there's some pressure. You deliberately have to try to want to remember why you are doing this in the first place. With the first album, no one had any clue about us. So I think we'll manage to do it; I think the new album will hopefully as confronting and polarizing as the first one. If it's not, then it will be a waste of everyone's time if we try to do 10 more "Rituals".

1349 Announces Special Norwegian Shows

Norwegian black metallers 1349 have scheduled the following dates in their home country:

April 27 - Hulen - Bergen, Norway
April 28 - Folken - Stavanger, Norway

Commented the band: "We had a splendid evening last time we visited Hulen; there was a fiery connection between the band and the audience, and the natural ambience inside the cavern fits 1349 perfectly. So we look forward to returning, and this time we will pull out some special songs from the hat — both old and new songs that we haven't performed live in a very long time or not at all. This is going to be a feast! Our encounter with the Stavanger audience on April 28 is going to be 1349's very first, and that's an event now in the band's 11th year of existence. Both 1349 and the metal scene of the Stavanger/Jæren-area has a strong and characteristic national identity — let's see what happens when we meet for a hellish burn-out this Saturday evening!"
